Abstract

This paper aims to study the cultivation of spices and cash crops in Rajasthan with respect to area cultivated, yield and combination of both area cultivated and yield. There were two circumstances: at start, there was an output shift with positively increased production while at Mid-terminal year, the production was more than the initial year’s production with negatively increased output. The terminal year’s production was lower than the average starting output. The effect of area cultivated, the productivity effect and the area-to-productivity relationship effect were determined. Percentage cumulative effect of yield, and interaction were also determined. Initial and terminal triennial average of area cultivated and yield of selected Rajasthan crops were divided into two periods: 2000-01 to 2009-10 as first period and 2010-11 to 2018-19 as second period. Effect of area, effect of productivity and effect of interaction through the model of decomposition were shown in Second period. The improvement in production for crops such as coriander, fenugreek, cumin, garlic and chilli was observed to be positive while on the other hand, cotton, sugarcane, and guar had negative shift in output over time.
