Abstract

Based on the polytropic approximation, we model the ultracold Fermi gas in harmonic trapping potential with three dimensional generalized Gross-Pitaevskii equation (GGPE). Through selfsimilar approach and without introducing any integrability constraint, we analytically solve the 3D GGPE identifying the oscillatory dark soliton solution. The oscillation period we calculated varies with polytropic index, corroborating qualitatively the feature observed in relevant experimental work.
